The mobile communications technology has been evolving rapidly with customer demands for mobile services with wider bandwidth and new, innovative services and features like TV and multimedia, interoperability and seamless connectivity with a range of protocols and standards that are coming up. Solutions are also needed for a simple interface for integration of GSM, CDMA and other mobile services with Smart Cards, RFID, GPS, etc. All these mobile services have to be integrated with the emerging global packet based Next Generation Network.
Mobile content is expected to turn into a $9 billion industry by the end of 2006, according to a study by tech services provider LogicaCMG. One fifth of mobile phone owners worldwide have already experienced downloading content to their handsets, a percentage expected to rise to 60 per cent in the next 12 months.
India Mobile Forum 2006 Conference, jointly organised by Electronics Today, India's FIRST Techno-Economic Electronics Monthly Journal, and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA), highlighted the emerging mobile technologies such as 3G, 4G, WiMAX, Near Field Communication and Next Generation Networks along with Spectrum Management issues.
China and India together have a population of approximately 2.5 billion people and comprise the single largest opportunity for mobile vendors. The evolution of these two markets will reshape the global telecommunications and technology landscape as well as realign market share among today's mobile market leaders.
The number of mobile subscribers in India is expected to grow from just over 123 million today to more than 350 million by 2010 - an addition of over 230 million subscribers in just four years.
India offers good potential for development of WiMAX technologies. Also many service providers are looking to Next Generation Network (NGN) services as a means to attract and/or retain the most lucrative customers. There is a whole host of Next-Generation Network (NGN) technologies available in the market including IP/VPN, MPLS and VoIP.
India Mobile Forum 2007 offers an ideal forum to discuss and explore the huge market potential in various aspects of mobile communications, and display of products, solutions and services for rapidly growing India and SAARC region countries.
